Putbus  -even called "Town of Roses " or "White Town" - is beside history and architecture also known for its picturesque nature. Protected by the Biosphere-Reserve South-East Ruegen, the area offers extensive forests, beautiful avenues, a big historial landscape park and silent beaches at the Bodden.

As spiritual and cultural center of Ruegen Island, Putbus offers its visitors a unique theatre, the annual Putbus Opera-Festival, exhibitions in the "Orangerie" as well as a clock- an a dollmuseum. Furthermore, numerous events in the historical "Marstall" and concerts and readings as well. 

Startin point for all opportunities of mediterrain holiday is the village Lauterbach with its local harbourand a private marina.

Artisticly established in the first half of the 19th century, Putbus is Europe's latest residence town with classicistic architecture. It is a unique connection between nature and culture  romance in a stylistic enviroment of classicism, embedded into a marvelous forest and water scenery with carefully preserved nature.

Putbus is an architectural experience, situated in a stylistic landscape park. It revelates gorgeous views to the landscape and to the atmospheric Bodden with its wonderful romantic harbour.

With its cultural values, Putbus is the high level cultural center of Ruegen Island. Putbus is starting and ending point of a nostalgic narrow gauge rail.
